Sometimes when that certain student moves up to a grade, there may be teachers who want to share all the bad news and all the struggles. Some advice is to try and ignore it the best you can.⁣

This doesn't mean ignore the important things you need to support the student. This doesn't mean avoid reading the file. All of those things are important.⁣
⁣
But it means being willing to give a fresh start. Sometimes kids need that. Sometimes kids do better with different teachers too. Sometimes kids are ready for a new phase.⁣

Everyone deserves a fresh start. Especially kids.⁣

I will keep saying this! Social emotional learning I will keep saying this! Social emotional learning is a huge umbrella. Yes, this includes emotions and making friends, but it also includes skills for working through challenges, developing goals, problem-solving, staying organized, and focusing on tasks.⁣

So much of social emotional learning supports academic growth. And it's not just me saying that; it's what the research says too.
